Update Joomla to the latest version

One of the technical requirements JKassa – is the presence of installed Jooma! on your site, not less than version 3.7. Therefore, before installing JKassa, you will need to upgrade to Joomla version on your site is not lower than this version.

This video shows how to upgrade the Joomla! to the latest version in several ways.

Warning! Before upgrading, always make a backup of the site (files and database).

Upgrading Using the component "Updating Joomla!" (Recommended)

The simplest way to update - the update by using the component "Updating Joomla!".

  • Go to Components → Update Joomla! and click the "Install Updates".
  • Wait for the update.
  • If necessary, enter the administrator login and password and click "Confirm & Continue."

Alternative Joomla update method (manually)

If you are unable upgrade your Joomla! by using update component due to the limitations of your hosting or due to problems with the connection, you must follow these steps:

  • Go to Components → Update Joomla! and click on the "Pack (URL)", to download the appropriate update package for your site.
  • Copy the update package to the root directory of your website and unzip it. Please note that you need to tell the system that you want to replace existing files. Use File Manager FTP to download the update file to your hosting service, and then use the "Unzip" to decompress it. Select "Replace existing files".
  • Enter the administrator panel of your Joomla! site and go to Extensions → Extension Manager → Database, and then click "Edit" at the top left corner.
  • Go to the Extension Manager → Search in the left menu, click "Search". Select from the list displayed extensions only extensions Joomla! and click "Install" button. (Note: do not choose to install third-party extensions).
  • In the main admin panel menu, go to System → Clear cache, and when you see any rows, select them and click the "Delete" button in the upper left corner.

Update Joomla! to the latest test version

To update Joomla! to the latest test version of the following steps:

  • Go to Components → Update Joomla! and click on the button in the upper corner of the "Settings".
  • In the drop-down list of "Update server" select "Test distributions Joomla!".
  • Click "Save and Close".
  • Please upgrade Joomla! according to the instructions given above.

Note. If you received the error after the update: Notice: Undefined property: stdClass::$client_id in your_site \libraries\vendor\joomla\utilities\src\ArrayHelper.php on line 521, line 522. Or when you open the menu: Unknown column 'client_id' in 'field list'. Follow the steps listed below:

  • Open phpMyAdmin web application - the interface to administer the DBMS MySQL.
  • In the Database list, select the database of your site.
  • Click on the SQL tab and paste the following code:
    ALTER TABLE `xxx_menu_types` ADD `client_id` TINYINT(4) NOT NULL DEFAULT '0' AFTER `description`;
    Symbols "xxx" - this is the suffix of your database tables, change it.
  • Click on the "Next" button.

Now, your site has been updated to the latest version of Joomla! Make sure that the version of Joomla! on your website always comply with the latest version.
